I seem to remember the last Behind-The-Scenes post from February making a very late appearance, too. Well, March is no different, apparently. Sorry, guys!
If these posts are new to you, the purpose of them is to keep track of our blog growth and share what we learn on our way. And to share what isn’t working, what is working and what we’re up to. Our desire is to turn this into a full-time business, but right now it’s kind of an expensive, all be it totally awesome, hobby.
The month of March, we definitely started to get some traction. Our numbers indicated a growth that was steady. More page views and more users. Always a win! I largely attribute that to a more consistent social media sharing strategy. The traffic sources are largely from social sharing sites like Foodgawker and Yummly. In past months my social sharing has been a bit sporadic. Clearly, consistency is key.
So, let’s just take a look at the numbers.
Traffic seemed relatively consistent except for a few weeks from the 8-15th of March, where we had a bit of a spike in traffic.
This month we were really conscious about making sure that we submitted all the recipes to food sharing sites. You may be thinking, “duh”. Sources of traffic… why wouldn’t you be conscious of submitting. But, the truth is, I get can get so caught up on developing recipes and researching them, that I forget or, I hate to say, put it off until I feel like I have more time. Well, it’s obvious that making the time is a necessity, ’cause submitting to these sites works.
I’ve already started to work on the April B-T-S post, which is a bit of a miracle considering we’re only the first day of May! It won’t be far behind.0
